Hattiesburg, MS, January 2005 – The Merchants Company is proud to announce the promotion of two of its top executives. Andrew B. Mercier has been promoted to President and Donald B. Suber has been elevated to Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the foodservice distribution company headquartered in Hattiesburg , Mississippi. The Merchants Company operates three Divisions, Merchants Foodservice, Merchants Cold Storage and N & T Logistics.
Andy Mercier, previously the Executive Vice President and Treasurer, joined the company in 1992 . He is a Board Member of the Mississippi Hospitality and Restaurant Association and a member of IFDA's Safety and Security Commission. His responsibilities as President will include the day-to-day operations of the company and working with Mr. Suber to define the future of The Merchants Company.
Mr. Suber joined The Merchants Company in 1955 and has held the position of President since 1988. During his tenure as President, the company has grown from a small statewide retail distributor to a regional broadline foodservice distributor currently ranked 19 th in the country in sales. Mr. Suber is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA) and of the F.A.B., Inc. Board of Directors. As Vice Chairmen and CEO, Mr. Suber will concentrate on long term planning and strengthening the value and position of the company.
