IFDA Members Elect Distributor Leaders to IFDA Board
Amelia Island, FL - January 25, 2009 - During the Annual Membership Meeting held at the 2009 IFDA Partners Executive Forum, members of the International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA) elected four new directors to the IFDA Board of Directors and re-elected eight existing directors. The IFDA Board works as the governing body of the association.
“The IFDA Board is a tremendously active group that provide direction for our association’s efforts and establish major strategies to meet industry objectives,” said John Martin, chairman of the IFDA Board of Directors and CEO of Martin Brothers Distributing Company, Cedar Falls, IA. “Our Board members have a strong desire to contribute to the industry and are committed to serving the common business interests of the membership. Their insights and counsel help make IFDA the strong organization that it is and their contribution is appreciated.”
Prior to the nominations process, Mr.. Martin thanked Ed Furbee, the president of FoodPRO of Frederick, MD, for his service on the board. Mr. Furbee retired from the Board after serving two three-year terms from February 2003 – January 2009.
Two new Directors were elected to three-year terms beginning in 2009, including:
- Bill Mathis, President, Glazier Foods Company (Houston, TX)
- Andrew Mercier, President and CEO, Merchants Foodservice (Hattiesburg, MS)
Two new Directors were elected to fulfill existing terms, including:
- Mac Pearce, President and CEO – Broadline, Performance Food Group (Richmond, VA) (2008-2011)
- Larry Perkins, President, Perkins (Taunton, MA) (2007 – 2010)
Eight individuals were re-elected to three-year terms as Directors beginning in 2009, including:
- Leonard Bench, President & CEO, Jake’s Finer Foods (Houston, TX)
- Jeff Braverman, President, Hawkeye Foodservice Distribution, Inc. (Iowa City, IA)
- Blair Labatt, Jr., CEO, Labatt Food Service (San Antonio, TX)
- Malcolm Sullivan, Jr., CEO, Pate Dawson Company (Goldsboro, NC)
- James Crawford, Chairman and CEO, Clover Hill Foods (Bridgeville, PA)
- Barbara Callahan, President, Mattingly Foods, Inc. (Zanesville, OH)
- J. Michael Roach, President, Ben E. Keith Foods (Fort Worth, TX)
